Work Experience

In the summer of 2014, I worked in sales for luxury fashion brand MAX STUDIO. The company places great emphasis on superior customer service and CRM, and therefore, it was my job was to create a highly personalized shopping experience for each customer from beginning to end. This included providing consultations in the fitting room, recommending merchandise based on individual needs, and developing a sense of comfort and credibility with my clients to ensure brand loyalty. Using my interpersonal skills and knowledge of fashion retail, I surpassed my sales goals each month and made a valuable contribution to the Georgetown store's KPIs.

One of the most rewarding parts of this job was being able to interact with brand new people every day, including both D.C. locals and visitors from around the world. Getting to know the customers on a personal level and learning about what motivates them to make purchases helped me to gain a much more in-depth understanding of the retail industry.

In the summer of 2012, I worked as an event planning assistant at PUBLICITY CREW, a public relations company based in Providence. Using my organizational and communication skills, I helped owner Julie Ruditzky Loffredi plan Give & Glam, a glamorous girls' night out event at a mansion in Newport, RI, which gave attendees the opportunity to enjoy a night of shopping, fashion shows, and beauty demonstrations with their friends, all while supporting a charitable cause. Some of my responsibilities included coordinating logistics, researching and booking retail vendors, and writing press releases to promote the event.

This experience reinforced just how much I love to plan, organize, and do creative brainstorming. There are countless details that must be considered when creating and marketing a large-scale event with over 40 vendors and 400 guests, and staying organized makes all of the difference. I now hope to plan more fashion events in my future career.

In the summer of 2013, I worked as a fashion and marketing intern for WORN, a creative agency formerly based in Washington, D.C. that also publishes a fashion and art magazine called Worn Magazine bi-annually. During my time there, I became involved both with the publication and the company's retail website. In addition to managing and tracking inventory sold through the site, I attended meetings to discuss the upcoming issue of the magazine, drafted content for their social media pages in search of photographers and models, and spoke with various retailers regarding vendor distribution opportunities for the magazine.

My favorite memory from this experience was brainstorming themes and content for the next issue of the magazine with the CEO of the company, during which time my appreciation for teamwork and the collaborative spirit increased.

In the summer of 2011, I worked in sales for the popular retail chain DELIA'S and spent most of my time helping customers in the fitting room, which is where I really shined. My main responsibility was to help my customers create head-to-toe looks and update their wardrobes while emphasizing both the quality and affordability associated with the brand. At times, I was also tasked with visual merchandising responsibilities, including assembling outfits for store displays, which allowed me to demonstrate my knowledge of fashion trends.

As this was my first time working in retail, I learned a great deal about consumer behavior, retail management, and customer service. However, the best part about this job was being recognized as a high performance seller and having customers tell me that I had contributed very positively to their experience while in the store.
